Description
New One Ounce .999 American Silver Eagle.
Design:
Obverse: The obverse side features Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. This design originally appeared on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar (1916 to 1947) and is considered one of the most beautiful designs ever minted by the U.S. Mint.
Reverse: The reverse side, designed by John Mercanti, displays a heraldic eagle with a shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left. Above the eagle are 13 five-pointed stars representing the 13 original colonies.
Purposes:
Investment: Many investors buy the American Silver Eagle to hedge against inflation or for investment in silver as a precious metal.
Collection: Beyond its value as a precious metal, the American Silver Eagle has been a favorite among coin collectors due to its beautiful design and the variety of special editions and finishes that have been released over the years.
Legal Tender: While it has a face value of $1, given its intrinsic silver value, it’s not typically used in everyday commerce at this time. People like the coin due to its recognizability as a US MInt Product and the protections that offers.
The American Silver Eagle is one of the world’s most widely recognized and traded silver bullion coins. Over the years, its annual mintage figures have varied, with some years seeing millions of coins produced, making it a significant source of silver demand.
