Description
The obverse of the coin displays the classic Liberty design, facing left and surrounded by 13 stars with the word “Liberty” in her hairband. The reverse features a heraldic eagle with a shield on its breast. Surrounding the eagle is “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the denomination. Designed by Christian Gobrecht and minted from 1838-1907, the coin is a U.S. Mint issue from the following mints: Philadelphia, Carson City, Denver, New Orleans or San Francisco. You will receive a random non-keydate coin.
All U.S. Gold coins were taken out of circulation in 1933 as a result of an executive order that made possession of monetary Gold illegal.
Many of these coins have been melted over the years allowing for a unique opportunity to own a limited historical coin.
